Happy New Years! 2020 A Look Ahead
My ADORING public! Welcome to 2020!
For those of you who don't know me, welcome! My name is Mytchel Chandler and I am an almost author, comic book writer, and acutely limited cosplayer. I fancy the movies on a weekly basis and I can hardly be serious, even in the most dire of times. Help me Obi Wan Kenobi--you're my only hope.
If you don't want a history lesson on ME, feel free to skip down a bit and read about what I'm DOING in 2020. Otherwise, strap on your Velcro capes, (Take that, Edna!), and fly into the sky with me as I perform a bit of self flattery.
2019 Has been a wonderful year! I FINALLY completed my Associates degree in business, I became Secretary for my local writing organization, AND became the host of a local event for said writing organization. I also worked a year as a full time employee for the FIRST time, and for me, that's a huge accomplishment. I got to watch the culmination of two of my most beloved franchises come to exciting closes in Avengers: Endgame and Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker. I moved out of an apartment and into a house with my roommate, where there is a lot more elbow room. A touchy subject, but I stopped taking medication for the depression I had been experiencing for several years, and my emotions remain stable.
So many wonderful things, such great accomplishments, and yet there's this buzz hanging just beneath my heart that keeps me from being proud. The type of buzz that starts out as cellphone vibrations, but rises until you feel the hot pricks of disturbed hornets.
You see, I started out 2019 with my first book written, a YA Fantasy, but as the year draws to a close, I wonder why my book isn't sitting in my hands, in others hands, its ink soaking into the crevices of brains. Why haven't I published it yet, and why do I keep telling people I'm editing it?
Where did I go wrong?
Well, Mr. Mytchel, I'll tell you where you went wrong. And it comes from a saying that John Campea, who hosts a Movie News/Talk Show on Youtube, once said,
"You can't steer a parked car. No matter how bad you want the car to move, it won't unless you put it into a gear and start driving."
I may have been paraphrasing, as I don't have access to the direct quote, however, the sentiment is there. I've allowed myself to become dormant and haven't been driving my writing forward.
Thus,
MY PLAN FOR 2020:
1. Weekly Blog Posts
2. Daily Social Media Posts
3. Write two Books
4. Release my first.
These are huge goals and they will require a ton of intestinal fortitude, but I know that I am capable and that you are capable of coming along this ride with me.
1. Weekly Blog Posts
Monday: Character Development
I will create a character and begin to develop it and create stories with said character.
Tuesday: Face Your Fears
Confronting the things that make your toes crinkle. We'll explore the fears of human nature and punctuate them with stories that un-glue you from your own skin.
Wednesday: Movie News Thoughts
Roundup of the Weekly movie news, top stories, interesting factoids and my punditry on such events.
Thursday: Throwback or Throw Up?
Diving into my old works and sharing them, along with updated, edited versions.
Friday: Writing Exercises
A compilation of all writing exercises I've done throughout the week.
2. Daily Social Media Posts
BOLO for bemusing daily content on my social media including writing exercises, poetry, jokes, inspirational quotes, memes, book reviews, and Q&A's. Its going to be a lot, but a lot of wonderful!
3. Writing two books in 2020.
I will be writing 2 books in 2020, and will keep you updated along the way. This is going to be a tough feat, seeing as it took me longer than a year to finish my first novel, however, with experience under the belt and tools lining it, I believe these two should go much smoother.
4. Publish my YA Fantasy
My biggest goal is to officially place my book in your hands in 2020. To be able to badge myself, "Author". This is a promise, a blood pact, if you will.
Thank you for enduring my abridged Plan for 2020, I am excited to put the petal to metal and finally get my car moving. I can't wait to spend the coming years, with you, my adoring public.
